About this model

The WT1501C is a top load washer with a 4.5 cu ft capacity. Features beyond that vary by version, so a technician reads the label on your unit.

It will not fill

A washer that clicks and hums but stays dry usually has trouble upstream. Turn the hot and cold valves behind it fully on and check that the hoses are not folded behind the cabinet. Mesh screens at the hose ends can clog with grit after plumbing work, a common event in older buildings. The IE inlet code is the message to watch for.

It fills but will not move on

If the cycle stalls with water in the tub, suspect the lid switch, the drain, or a jam in the drive. A rattling sound at the start of spin can come from a loose item in the basket. A thick, slow sound from deep below can come from a worn drive component, which only a bench inspection confirms. The LE code marks a drum that cannot rotate under load.

Do not do this

  • Do not run the washer while it is leaking.
  • Do not reach under the tub while it is plugged in.
  • Do not pour solvents or oven cleaner into the drum to clear a smell.

The visit

We listen to the symptom, check the code if one appears, test the washer through a cycle and tell you what we found. Pricing is covered in a written estimate, and the repair starts once you say yes. The related WT1150C page covers a sibling top loader. For process, see LG washer repair; for the lineup, see LG washers.

Cold garages and damp closets

Many top loaders in San Francisco sit in garages where fog and cool nights keep the room damp. Moisture on control panels, rust on the base and slow, cold water can all affect behavior. If your washer lives in such a room, mention it when you book, because it shapes what we inspect, from the harness connectors to the hose couplings.

In shared basements, tell us which outlet and which water valves belong to your unit. Neighbors sometimes close a shared valve without realizing it affects another washer, and that looks exactly like a failure on your machine.

Before the visit, empty the tub if you can and take wet laundry out, so access is easier and the floor stays dry.
