Lid latch refusing to close, a tub that will not spin or slow draining on the WT1150C: start here.

About this model

Model overview

Top loaders are simpler to look at than front loaders, but they still hide moving parts. The WT1150C is a top load washer with a 4.5 cu ft tub. The lid, the tub, the agitator or impeller below it and the drive underneath all work together, and a fault in one often looks like a fault in another.

The lid and the latch

A top load washer will not spin with the lid open. If it fills and then sits silent, check that the lid closes fully and that nothing blocks the hinge. The dE3 code reports that the lid did not latch. A bent hinge or a loose switch actuator causes this more often than a dead control.

Spinning and drain

When wet clothes come out heavy, the tub may not have spun at all, or the drain may have stalled before the spin. A coin trapped under the impeller can bring on the E6 clutch code. A lopsided load will give you UE, and a drain pump jam can show E3, which can also be tied to freezing in a cold garage.

Owner checks

  • Redistribute the load so it sits evenly, and avoid a single bulky item like a comforter.
  • Check the floor under all four feet; a rocking washer can trip the unbalance sensor.
  • Look in the tub for coins, pins or buttons stuck near the bottom.
  • Confirm the drain hose is secure in the standpipe and not pushed down too far.

Installation notes

Top loaders in Bay Area garages and basement alcoves often sit on concrete that slopes toward a floor drain. That slope can put the washer out of level. In condos the hot and cold connections may be shared with other equipment, so we check supply pressure before blaming the washer.

Next

Write down the display message and model number, then see LG washer repair and the LG washers overview. If you also own a WT1501C, the guidance is similar, though the checks vary by control layout.

How a top load repair visit goes

We start by running the washer through fill, agitate, drain and spin so we can see where it stops. Lid switch, drain flow and tub movement are checked in that order, and the level of the washer is confirmed with a small level on the rim.

After diagnosis you receive a written estimate and a clear explanation of what failed and why. If you decline the repair, the washer is left in a safe condition. Nothing proceeds without your approval, and we write the model number on the estimate so it stays attached to the machine.
