Model overview

Why the larger tub matters

The WT1901C is 5.0 cu ft, the largest top loader among the washers we handle. A bigger tub holds heavier wet loads, so unbalance and drive strain show up faster than in a smaller machine. Bedding, towels and jeans together can push the washer past what its sensors tolerate.

Typical complaints

  • A banging spin, followed by the UE code.
  • Wet laundry at the end of a cycle because the drain or spin stopped early.
  • A tub that stays still while the motor hums, sometimes with LE1, a locked motor from obstruction or load.
  • A lid warning that stops the cycle before it begins.

Load habits to try

Split heavy items into two loads, avoid washing one bulky comforter alone, and let the water fill before adding more. If the machine rocks, check the leveling feet with a small level on the rim. It sounds minor, but a washer sitting on one low foot can trip the sensor every time.

Drain and venting around the washer

Large-tub washers move more water at once. A standpipe that is too narrow, or a laundry sink drain that backs up, will make the washer look as if its pump failed. Check whether the sink beside the washer drains slowly as well; if so, the building drain needs attention, not the machine.

Booking a diagnosis

Have the model number and the code ready, and read how we work on the LG washer repair page. The LG washers guide compares top loaders and front loaders. Our WT5275C page is the closest relative among the top loaders we cover, with a 4.5 cu ft tub.

Care that protects the drive

A large tub rewards even loading. Place heavy items around the agitator or impeller area rather than piled on one side, avoid cramming past the top row of holes, and wash waterproof or quilted items in smaller batches. These habits spare the suspension and drive from repeated shocks.

Also leave the lid open between uses so the tub dries, and wipe the rim where detergent builds. A clean rim keeps the lid sensor area free of residue and prevents small false readings.

If wet loads keep ending the cycle early, record when it happens and tell us at booking; the pattern is a useful clue.
