LG Washer PE and E33 Error Code

VERIFIED

Error code PE, E33
Appliance Washer

A sensor with no usable reading

PE and E33 both refer to the water level sensor, also called the pressure sensor. The washer cannot tell how much water the tub holds. Front-load and WashTower models share one set of steps, and top-load models have their own.

What can upset the sensor

  • On a WashTower, humidity can cause PE, particularly in a damp room such as a bathroom.
  • On a top-load washer, too much detergent or softener creates oversudsing, which has the same effect.

Resets by washer type

  1. Front-load: unplug for 10 seconds, reconnect and restart the cycle.
  2. WashTower: unplug, wait 5 minutes, reconnect and start the unit.
  3. Top-load: leave it unplugged for 5 minutes. If suds are behind it, also run a tub clean cycle.

A PE that keeps returning means the washer needs service, and on a top-load model a technician may have to inspect it.

Related codes

  • Sud is a suds error.
  • SE is a sensor error.
  • tE is a heating or temperature sensor fault.

LG washer service in the San Francisco Bay Area

If PE comes back after your reset, phone (415) 223-7887. We take LG washer repair calls from San Francisco and nearby; mention the code, your model number and which reset you used.

Model compatibility: LG reuses codes across series and model years, so PE, E33 may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.

Plain language

What this code means

The water level (pressure) sensor is faulty, so the washer cannot measure the water in the tub.

Important safety warning. Do not attempt repairs involving electrical components, gas, water lines, refrigerant or sealed systems. Unplug the appliance if it is safe to reach the outlet, and leave internal diagnostics to a qualified technician.
