LG Washer dHE Error Code

VERIFIED

Error code dHE
Appliance Washer

Only front-load washers and washer-dryer combos from LG display dHE. LG calls it a safety feature built into combos. It appears during a dry cycle if the drying fan motor is not working properly.

What can set it off

  • The fan motor that moves warm air through the drum is not turning, or has an electrical problem.
  • A brief power fluctuation or system glitch leads the washer to detect a motor fault that does not exist.

The manual describes dHE as a temporary dry function error.

Reset procedure

  1. Switch the washer off and unplug it. The front-load list says to leave it for 10 seconds, while the washer-dryer combo guide suggests about 5 minutes so stored power can discharge.
  2. Plug it in again and switch it on. On a combo, run a dry cycle alone; on a front-load washer, restart the wash cycle.
  3. See if dHE comes back.

When dHE returns

Close the water tap and unplug the washer, because the unit needs a repair service. Wash and spin cycles might still start, but a cycle may not complete properly when the drying system is at fault. For that reason the manual recommends leaving the washer unused until it has been inspected.

Safety note

High voltage or leftover heat may be present around the drying fan motor and nearby parts. Leave them assembled and unmodified.

Not a door code

The dE, dE1 and dE2 messages concern the door, while dHE is about the drying system. Door-related lookups:

  • dE2: a shut door that has not locked
  • dL: trouble with the door latch or lock
