Model overview

What the entry tells us

LS23C4000 is catalogued as a side-by-side refrigerator at 23.1 cu ft. There is no series name. Side-by-side means two tall compartments next to each other, freezer on one side, fresh food on the other, which is why many owners also expect a dispenser in the door.

The dispenser and the water path

Where a door dispenser is fitted, water travels from the house supply valve through a filter and a tank to the outlet. A weak or absent stream can be a closed valve, a flattened tube behind the cabinet, a filter that is seated badly, or a flow sensor, the last of which the display reports as the water flow code. Compare the symptoms with the slow water dispenser guide. If a tank warning appears, the water tank code is the reference.

Narrow freezer side, tall airflow

The freezer column of a side-by-side is narrow and deep, so cold air has to travel a long way. Frost on the fan cover or on the back panel interferes with that, and the display may flag the left fan code or the middle or upper fan code. Foods stored directly against the air outlet also freeze or fade unevenly, which is a different thing from a real failure.

Installation in a tight kitchen

Two full-height doors need swing space. In older San Francisco flats where the kitchen is a galley, the door of a side-by-side can hit a countertop edge before it opens fully, and the shelves nearest the hinge become hard to reach. We check that the doors open and close without binding, that the cabinet is level and that the water line has enough slack to slide the unit out.

Owner checks

  • Open the shutoff valve all the way and look for a kinked line.
  • Take out the ice bin, check for fused cubes and empty it.
  • Keep food away from the interior vents.
  • Write down the code if one is showing.

Next steps

Send the LS23C4000 label number with your request. Our LG refrigerator repair page covers the process and LG refrigerators lists the lineup. Diagnosis comes first, then a written estimate, and no work begins without your approval.

Door bins and shelves

A side-by-side door carries a lot of weight, and loaded bins can pull the door down on its hinge. If the door does not swing back on its own, remove heavy items and see whether it closes fully. A door that drops out of position can leave a gap along the bottom corner, where warm air enters and moisture forms. Tell us when the gap first appeared.
