OE and its two causes
Water left in the tub at the end of a run produces OE, the outlet error. LG names two causes: a filter blocked by residue, and an outlet hose that has been squashed or bent. Displayed codes vary with the model.
Drain hose checklist
- Shut the shut-off valve first.
- Look along the hose for squashed or kinked stretches and straighten them out.
- A recently installed unit? Get in touch with the installation technician.
- Where the hose joins the dishwasher, its end needs to be 30 cm or more above the floor. Set lower, it can let sewer gas smells rise and sewage water run back into the sink.
Filter cleaning
Residue that collects in the filter slows drainage, which is why LG suggests cleaning it every one to two weeks. Wait half an hour once a cycle ends, since the tub stays hot and can cause burns.
- Take out the lower rack.
- At the bottom of the tub, rotate the filter handle counter-clockwise and lift the filter free.
- Split the inner filter from the stainless steel one and rinse both under running water.
- Reassemble the two parts, seat the filter and rotate the handle clockwise until it clicks.
Leftover water after a finished cycle
If a blackout or tripped breaker shut the dishwasher off in the middle of washing, water may remain in the tub. It drains once the machine is running, so switch it on and start the wash cycle again.
Other codes
- nE relates to the Vario pump impeller.
- PF only indicates a power interruption, not a fault.
- FE relates to leakage or overfilling.
