Reading FE
An LG dishwasher displays FE when it senses a leak or more water than the standard amount. LG files FE together with AE, and the codes shown may vary from one model to another.
Possible triggers
- Incoming water above the standard quantity.
- Too many suds, caused by dishwashing liquid.
- A dishwasher that sits unlevel, or a door out of alignment.
- A detected leak.
- Water that was poured into the Heat Dry blower.
Owner steps in LG’s order
- Put large plates and pots in upside down.
- Switch to detergent made for dishwashers. Dishwashing liquid is not suitable.
- If the dishwasher is unlevel, request service.
- If FE keeps returning on a level machine, request service as well.
When the floor stays dry
The dishwasher keeps draining while FE is on, which protects both the unit and the floor. Should no water be leaking and the message still stays lit, unplug the dishwasher and request service. A built-in with its plug behind it can be shut off at the switch that controls its power. If it plugs into a power strip behind the baseboard of the cabinet, switch that strip off.
Dynamic Heat Dry models
The water softening system cap and the Heat Dry filter cap differ in size and shape, so learn which is which before opening either. Water goes into the water softening system only, since water poured through the Heat Dry blower can leak. If that happened on a built-in, leave the unit where it is and request service, which spares the floor from damage.
Codes worth comparing
- bE is the bubble error from oversudsing.
- OE is the outlet error in which the tub does not drain fully.
- F31 is the Heat Dry fan motor that is not running.
