Which displays belong to this fault
dH, FdH, dHF and Er dH all report the same defrost heating fault, and none of them is tied to a particular series in LG’s lists.
How the refrigerator decides
Once a defrost cycle begins, the defrost sensor is meant to climb by more than 5 degrees Celsius inside 80 minutes. The code appears when it does not. Moisture from the air can freeze and clog the evaporator as a result.
Panels that use plain LEDs show the fault by lighting -15°C, -17°C, -18°C and -20°C.
Reset described by LG
- Pull the plug and wait 2 minutes.
- Restore power and let the refrigerator run another defrost.
- Arrange service should the code reappear.
LG’s longer guide names causes that call for hands-on checks: built-up ice, a thermal fuse that has blown, a heater that has failed, or a problem on the main board. It also mentions the defrosting resistor, the heating relays and a drain that is clogged.
Related codes
- dS: the defrost temperature sensor.
- Cycle Error: possible poor cooling needing inspection.
- FF: freezer fan fault, frequently from frost.
Defrost repair in San Francisco
When dH comes back after the unplug reset, call (415) 223-7887 from San Francisco or elsewhere in the Bay Area. Bring the code as displayed, the model number and the reset you tried. More at LG refrigerator repair.
Model compatibility: LG reuses codes across series and model years, so dH (FdH, dHF, Er dH) may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
