When drn stops the dryer
A WashTower’s dryer unit can stop partway through a run and display drn, which can also read drn / OE. LG’s guide names two reasons: the drain hose is pressed flat or mounted too high, or the hose froze following prolonged cold weather.
Step one is the hose
- The hose to inspect belongs to the dryer, which is the upper unit.
- Look for clogs, twists and kinks; straighten and clear the hose so that water can drain.
- Hard to reach at the back? Request service to get help.
Thawing a frozen dryer
- Turn the power off and empty the drum of laundry.
- Take out the lint filter. Into the empty compartment pour a little hot water, under 1 liter and below 60 °C.
- Slot the lint filter back in and give the ice about half an hour to melt.
- Switch on and press Start/Pause.
When none of OE, Empty water container or drn shows any longer, the thaw worked. Take care: water that is too hot can harm the unit, while too much of it can spill onto the floor. Reach the unit with a ladder or a sturdy chair, and do it carefully. A second option is to pour into the water container compartment once the container is removed; where that is awkward or the compartment is absent, use the empty lint filter compartment.
If the code carries on
If the codes remain, turn the dryer off, then on, and let it run for 10 minutes. Repeat that sequence 3 to 5 times. A drn that survives it may come from the drain pump. Drainage trouble from a faulty pump is difficult to resolve with basic troubleshooting; request service.

- E13 concerns the drain hose or a frozen sump on hybrid condensing dryers.
- IF concerns a lint filter the WashTower cannot detect.
- LE1 concerns a drum on the WashTower dryer that will not rotate.
WashTower dryer repair in San Francisco and the Bay Area
Bay Area and San Francisco owners whose WashTower dryer still shows drn can phone (415) 223-7887 to ask about LG dryer repair. Tell us the code, the model number, and how you handled the hose and the thawing rounds.
Model compatibility: LG reuses codes across series and model years, so drn may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
