LG Refrigerator IF Error Code

VERIFIED

Error code IF (Er IF, F1)
Appliance Refrigerator

F1, IF and Er IF all mean the same thing: trouble with the fan that sends freezer air to the ice tray. When it is blocked, ice production suffers, and the refrigerator has a sensor for spotting that blockage. Refrigerators of any kind are covered.

Frost and alignment

Frost building on that fan is one suspected cause. Crooked doors invite frost, which is why LG sends owners to its guidance on leveling the cabinet and aligning the doors. French door models add one more item: look along the gasket beside the door for tears and damage.

When leveling does not help

Should neither leveling nor alignment remove the code, repair service is the remaining route.

The ice maker’s temperature sensor reports as IS, and its motor as It. On kimchi units a frosted fan elsewhere shows up as LF.

San Francisco repair for LG refrigerator IF codes

Model compatibility: LG reuses codes across series and model years, so IF (Er IF, F1) may mean something different on another appliance or generation. Confirm this against your model’s documentation and record your full model number before acting.
